The great thing is that if you already come into our office we can get your whole family scheduled for the same visit and meet all your needs in one visit.

Here are some things you can expect for your child’s first dental visit at our office:

It may seem early but you will want to call and schedule your child’s first visit around the age of 1 year old but preferably no later than 6 months after their teeth begin to erupt. This will help them become more comfortable and help the dentist share information with you to prevent complications.

This first visit will be a short visit like a meet and greet so your child can become comfortable in the environment to get to know the staff and dentist for a great first experience. We will examine your child’s gums, teeth and bite. If your child seems nervous at all during the exam, we may ask you to hold them to ease their apprehension.

During this visit we will also spend time visiting with you about your child’s history, preventative care, good oral hygiene habits, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about thumb sucking, weaning the pacifier, teething or any other concerns.

Our staff specializes in making children feel at ease and our dentists are amazing with children. If your child is doing well or we notice an area of concern we may go ahead and clean and polish their teeth if there is any build up of plaque or staining.

As you are leaving the office we can help you schedule your child’s next appointment. As long as we do not see any concerns that will require closer attention we recommend that your child return for regular visits once every six months. Also feel free to call us anytime after your child’s visit if you think of a question you may have forgotten to ask!

We look forward to hearing from you, meeting your little one and putting an extra sparkle on their smile. Give us a call today and we would be happy to get your baby scheduled or answer any questions you may have.
